Terms of use

Taste Nights ("Taste", "we", "us") runs tastenights.com, where you can RSVP to nightlife events in Mt Pleasant, Michigan, vote on themes, request songs and dap other people's picks. By using the site you agree to these terms.

• Age. You must be at least 18 to create an account. Events are 21+ unless we clearly say otherwise, and a valid photo ID is checked at the door.
• RSVPs and entry. An RSVP is not a ticket and doesn't guarantee entry. The venue and door staff can refuse entry or remove anyone, including for capacity, safety or breaking the house rules.
• Your content. Nicknames, song requests and taste answers must be respectful and legal. You let us show them on the site and in Taste promotion. We can remove content or accounts at our discretion.
• Changes. Dates, venues, themes and perks (like free entry before 11 for VIPs) can change or end. We'll post updates on this site.
• Venues. Events take place at independent venues that run their own bars, security and policies. Taste isn't responsible for the venue, its staff, or what happens there.
• Responsibility. Drink responsibly and plan a safe ride home. To the fullest extent the law allows, the site is provided "as is" and Taste isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses from using it or attending an event.
• Law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan.

SMS terms

• Program: Taste Nights text updates: location drops, VIP perks and night-of news for Taste events.
• How you join: by ticking the text-updates box on your Taste profile. It's optional and not required to be a VIP or attend.
• How often: up to 4 messages per month. Message and data rates may apply.
• Stop any time: reply STOP to cancel. Reply HELP for help, or email hello@tastenights.com. You can also untick the box on your profile.
• We only text between 9am and 8pm Eastern. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Taste Perks

• Taste Perks are deals offered by independent local businesses ("partners") to Taste VIPs. Each partner decides its own offer, limits and timing, and can change, refuse or end it at any time, at its discretion.
• To use a perk, show your live Taste VIP card in the app. Screenshots and shared cards don't count. Your card is personal and can't be transferred.
• The VIP card doesn't verify age or identity. Partners may ask for ID and are responsible for following the laws and license rules for their products, including age limits.
• Taste doesn't sell or guarantee partners' products or services and isn't responsible for them. Questions about a purchase go to the partner.
• No purchase from Taste is required. Perks have no cash value unless the partner says so. We can change or end the program, or remove VIP status for misuse.
• We never share your personal information with partners.

Privacy policy

What we collect.

• You give us: name, optional nickname, email, optional phone number, age range, optional taste answers, and job applications if you apply to work with us.
• From using Taste: RSVPs, votes, song requests, daps, door check-ins, and which street team link or promo code brought you (if any).
• Automatically: basic technical data our hosting provider logs to keep the site running and secure (like IP address, browser type and pages requested).

How we use it. To run events (guest lists and door check-in), show the song list and member profiles, credit and pay street team members for guests who check in, send your RSVP confirmation email, send texts if you opted in, review job applications, keep the site secure, and look at totals (never individual details) to understand what the crowd wants.

Who sees what. Other signed-in members see your nickname (or first name and last initial), your VIP status, taste picks, songs and daps. Door staff see the guest list for that night (name, VIP, age range). Street team members only see counts, never your name. Your email and phone number are never shown to other members.

Mobile numbers and texts. We do not sell, rent or share your mobile number or SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. Your number is only shared with our text-message provider to deliver the messages you signed up for.

Service providers. We use providers for hosting, database and sign-in, email, text messages, and showing our Instagram posts. They only process data to provide those services to us. Song artwork comes from Apple's public music catalog.

We never sell your data and we don't show ads or use ad trackers.

Venues and partners. We may share totals with venues and partners (like "120 RSVPs, most popular genre: Afrobeats"). We don't give them your personal details without asking you first.

How long we keep it. While your account is open. If you delete your account we remove your personal details within 30 days, except what we must keep for legal, tax or safety reasons (like street team payout records). Job applications are kept for up to 12 months.

Security. Data is encrypted in transit, access is locked to the person it belongs to (or staff who need it), and our server keys never reach your browser. No system is perfect; if a breach affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.

Kids. Taste is not for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from minors and will delete it if we find out.

Links. Links to Instagram, TikTok and other sites are governed by their own privacy policies.

Cookies & storage

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. We only use your browser's storage for things the site needs to work:

• Sign-in session: keeps you signed in (stored by our sign-in provider).
• Street team referral: remembers which street team link you opened, for 30 days, so they get credit.
• Welcome tour: remembers that you've seen it so it doesn't show again.

Because these are strictly necessary, there's no cookie banner. Clearing your browser storage removes them (you'll be signed out). If we ever add analytics or anything optional, we'll update this page and ask first where the law requires it.

Your choices & rights

• See or fix your info: edit your profile any time.
• Texts: reply STOP or untick the box on your profile.
• Emails: we only send the one confirmation email when you RSVP. If we ever send newsletters, every one will have an unsubscribe link.
• Copy or delete your data: email hello@tastenights.com from the address on your account and we'll respond within 30 days.
• Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control: we don't track you across sites or sell data, so there's nothing to opt out of; we honor these signals anyway.
• Changes: if we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top and tell signed-in members.
